Car crash knocks out power to nearly 2,000 people in Saanich

Lights have gone out in the Gorge-Tillicum and Strawberry Vale neighborhoods since Saturday night



An overnight car crash in Saanich left nearly 2,000 BC Hydro customers without power on Sunday (July 24).

Lights went out around 11 p.m. Saturday for 1,859 customers located south of Mann Avenue, west of Angeleah Place, north of Forshaw Road and east of Holland Avenue, and did not come on again at 10 a.m. Sunday.

BC Hydro says the cause of the breakdown was a car accident. Black Press Media has contacted the Saanich Police Department for further details.

Hydro crews were on site at 9:30 a.m. According to BC Hydro, power should return to the area around 1 p.m.
